On this page your will find some FAQ about retrofitting our custom steering wheel.
Below is a detailed video guide to show you how to install LED steering wheel on a BMW F series. The same concept applies to all modern cars that are equipped with OBDII port. To connect the LED, you will need to find a permanent 12v power source (on certain car make and models when you test it with multimeter it will show 12v but the voltage drops lower when ignition is turned on, you will need to either find an alternative permanent 12v source, and also see bottom of page on how to connect the OBD module to acc power).
How to use the control buttons: below is a video guide to show you basic operations using the two buttons on the steering wheel:
Are the steering wheels custom made?
All our steering wheels are custom made, either to your own chosen options or we stock and supply pre-determined specs to you. Depending on car model and year, we will use an original manufacturer product to re-manufacture the steering wheel core to meet your chosen spec. On newer models such as BMW F and G series we will manufacture the wheels using the new wheel core if it is available from the factory. If you have chosen to also purchase optional extras (e.g. carbon wheel trim, paddles etc) and if the trim is not available at factory with the core we will source an OE steering wheel and have this remanufactured for you.
The LED display does not turn on or is unstable?
The LED wheel kit consists of two main parts - LED display and the bluetooth OBD module. When you turn the ignition on, the OBD module will be turned on and send signals to the LED display module to activate them. The LED wire is usually connected to a permanent and stable 12V source inside the wheel. If your LED does not turn on it means your 12v connection has not been done correctly, or the 12v source drops to below 12v when the engine is turned on. On some cars the 12v drops below 12v and if so the LED display will not be activated.
On certain models you will need to create a new 12v power to the steering wheel (e.g. BMW E60, E90 models) if there is no suitable 12v power inside the steering wheel to power up the LED.
My connection is not stable and cuts out?
You may also need to cut and extend the red cable from the bluetooth OBD module and connect it to an ACC/12V/ignition power source for a more stable connection. See diagram below:
